Kayaks & Paddling in Eight Mile Creek
By Andrew0
Recently we bought a couple of Kayaks from Geoff at C-Kayaks in Adelaide. (http://www.kayakgroup.com.au/)
I thought it would mainly be Mitch and I paddling them but, as they are so easy to paddle and track really well, I let Charli have a go.
The model is the Scorpio Terrapin XL. Hard to believe that these sit near the bottom of their range.
Watching an 11 year old effortlessly paddling around on a 4 metre kayak justified buying from a kayak shop rather than a “bathtub” off the shelf at an outdoor store.
Looks like I’m going to have to buy a third one! Maybe a 4th and 5th once Migelle and Aussie have tried it…..
Second trip out. I made a rack for them to sit on top of the camper. Really didn’t like the salt water and sand dropping onto the roof of the Patrol.
The scenic view, such a great spot – could be a photo out of a kayak catalog.
Close up of the kayak.
Charli and her friend paddling near the estuary.
Another scenic shot
Here are a few videos. First one is Charli paddling, filmed with the iphone. This was her first time in a kayak.
I’ve uploaded the following videos at full 1080P resolution so please watch them in HD if your bandwidth can stand it.
Paddling upstream in 8 mile creek Whyalla, SA. Filmed with a GoPro camera on the front of the kayak.
The return trip. Paddling downstream in 8 mile creek Whyalla, SA. Filmed with a GoPro camera on the front of the kayak.
