Four days in the Flinders Ranges – Anzac Weekend 2013

By Andrew

We decided to make the Anzac Weekend a four day break by taking the Friday off too.

Nothing too challenging, just a short drive (hour and a half) to one of our favourite campgrounds – Stony Creek Bush Camp at Wilmington. We took the Patrol and caravan and Tim & Mel took their camper. We met up there with another nine families from the Whyalla 4WD Club that arrived at various times over the four days.

A very large group but very little planned as this was a relax and unwind kind of laid back trip.

Here are some of my pics form the trip. Enjoy!

Thursday was the long drive to camp. We were set up by 11am……

Nothing was planned for the day and so thats what we did.

Friday…..another lazy day. At about three in the afternoon we put the L plates onto the Patrol and Mitch and I went for a drive. He drove through Horrocks Pass and down onto Highway One. We turned around at Port Augusta and returned to Wilmington. Great experience for him on the winding roads and out on the highway.

Nearing sunset we again drove with Mitch at the wheel to Hancocks Lookout for some sunset photos. First we stopped to shoot a farmhouse.

We arrived at the lookout just in time to set up and start shooting.

After the Forest we continued on to the Bridle 4WD Trail for views across Spencer Gulf.

That night we really roughed it with pizzas cooked in the Cobb followed by a choice of two cheesecakes (coffee or crunchie) and two dampers (chocolate or golden syrup)

    Hey Andrew,
I don’t know you but I love your Photography.
Like yourself, I like adventure and also nature and like looking at your work, I still remember your pics of the wedgetail eagle.
Does the owl still hang around your house?
    Cheers

    G’day mate,

Great blog and photos. I love the background, but white text is a terrible choice for easy readability. Also, the ‘Leave a reply’ widget doesn’t line up the requests.

    Take care
