Parachilna, Chambers Gorge, Gammon Ranges
What an excellent weekend away, off the grid, full of unexpected experiences and good laughs. A planned trip to Chambers Gorge with our 4WD club went all but according to the plan….. Quick overnight stop at Parachilna and on Sat morning we stopped at Iga Warta on our way to Chambers. There we were greeted with such hospitality that we ended up staying two nights there instead . This place is run by the Coulthard family of the Adnyamathanha people of Flinders Ranges and they love sharing it with visitors. We paid our camping fees of $11 a night, were invited for an AFL grand finals party with nibbles provided, coffee and tea all weekend, cultural tours and a great evening by the fire with songs and stories and traditional damper baked in hot sand and served with quandong jam and cream. All that for free! These guys were amazing. So warm and friendly and inclusive. Might need some help with maintaining their tour bus but its breakdown only added to the charm of the weekend. We will definitely be back . Oh we did get to Chambers Gorge today on our way home . That was also breathtakingly beautiful. We do need some rain up there though, bone dry. Great trip.
